About Dr. Marie
As a naturopathic physician and energy healer,
I truly believe in our body’s innate healing wisdom, and I feel passionate about helping others gain access to their inner power.
I have been in naturopathic practice since 2002, and I additionally have over 20 years of experience as a craniosacral practitioner.
My journey into naturopathic medicine has been an evolution from the scientific to the spiritual.
I found naturopathic medicine after being a stressed-out, burnt out chemistry major/pre-med student in college. During that time, I’d also had my own knee surgery – an experience that was so cold, impersonal and traumatizing, that it left me disillusioned with allopathic medicine.
While I was fascinated by human physiology and the study of human systems,
I wanted to work in a way that created more contact with me and my clients.
Naturopathic medicine was a natural fit.
‘Healer heal thyself’ is a big theme for a lot of us healers.
I’d chugged along through 5 yrs of naturopathic medical school, completed a demanding residency and right after that volunteered for a year at a free clinic in Nicaragua where I gained a lot of experience in emergent care.
So when it came time for me to begin my own practice in Washington D.C., everything seem to catch up with me all at once. I found myself with a host of unpleasant symptoms: fibromyalgia pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, adrenal exhaustion, and intestinal malabsorption issues.
Dietary changes and nutritional supplements – the mainstay of naturopathic practice – were only a fraction of what began restoring my health. I made tremendous gains with energy healing, in fact, after my first session, I noticed a clear mind and positive mood for weeks. I grew inspired to begin studying a myriad of energetic healing modalities. And the more I learned, the healthier I became – anxiety and depression were resolved completely during my studies of shamanic healing.
In addition to extensive shamanic training, I have been a long time meditation practitioner, and am also a family constellation facilitator.
I am passionate about creative expression through dance and my art – bluelotusart.com. I love spending time in nature and connecting with others about their unique healing journey.
I am very grateful for my teachers: Patricia Whitebuffalo, Betsy Bergstrom, Rose Khalsa, Sandra Ingerman, Francesca Mason Boring, Ann Drucker, Linda Fitch, Kenpo Tenpa Yungdrung and Chaphur Rinpoche.
My own personal health journey has helped me to see that the physical, emotional, energetic and spiritual aspects of our human experience are intertwined.
I enjoy weaving the contents of my eclectic medicine bag to support individuals wherever they are on their own healing journey.
